Verizon Communications Analyst - Information Security in Ashburn, Virginia

What you’ll be doing...

You will coordinate security awareness activities and initiatives designed to influence employee and contractor behavior. You will play a significant role in helping us reduce risk to our organization by ensuring all individuals with access to Verizon information resources understand and follow our security requirements and behave in a secure and responsible manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Write communications for our employees, contractors and partners to inform, alert, and educate based on the communications strategy and requests from the Information Security team.

  • Ensure that our security awareness program communicates our security policies and requirements so that people know, understand and can follow them.

  • Leverage opportunities to expand employee knowledge through training, campaigns, videos, and education fairs and events.

  • Active participation in strategic initiatives in accordance to the E&A roadmap.

  • Ability to form complex 'communications / messages' in a simple, clear and concise manner to the various communities within our organization.

  • Project management experience and the ability to plan, manage, maintain and sustain a complex, organization wide program long-term.

  • Monitor cyber security industry news, threats and trends for internal educational opportunities.

  • Deliver and report key metrics to provide stakeholders situational awareness regarding the impact of the awareness program.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer, marketing or communications related field or one or more years of work experience.

  • One or more years of relevant experience.

  • Experience creating content for articles, blogs, presentations and other materials.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office / G-Suite tools.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • One or more years of writing and designing information security educational material for employees.

  • Ability to refine complex and difficult concepts into easy-to-understand communications.

  • Experience with the process of eLearning design.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

  • Comfortable communicating and writing content at all levels of the organization.

  • Self-motivated and takes ownership for assigned areas of responsibility and effectively manages work load to meet team deadlines

  • Knowledge of running phishing campaigns with some experience using vendor phishing application is a plus.

  • Certifications: PMP, CISM.

  • PC skills.
