What you’ll be doing...
The Manager - Data Analytics will be part of an objective assurance and consulting team that is independently managed within Verizon designed to add value and improve operations. Within Internal Audit, the Manager - Data Analytics, gains extensive exposure to diverse aspects of Verizon's business and technical landscape. These assignments include increasing levels of responsibilities, making Internal Audit an excellent place to work for high potential employees. As a leader within the FAAST team, this position will require a decisive, motivated and talented self-driven team player to lead and develop the analytical skills across the team.
As a top level contributor you would be supporting a high performance forensic and audit analytics team in its efforts to identify and drive data mining efforts through a risk based approach. The enthusiasm in this position helps mitigate fraud, identify misconduct and control gaps utilizing cutting edge Big Data technologies and modern investigative techniques.
Play a significant role with respect to infrastructure problem solving, opportunity identification and own complex projects to lead the advancement of technical skills within Finance
Work closely with senior management to understand data and its relationship to business process and controls.
Prioritize general objectives into defined projects and establish scope, timeline, and resources to successfully meet commitments
Mentor team members to ensure professional growth and development of data science skillset and leadership qualities.
Find creative solutions to complex and diverse business problems.
Organize data and effectively communicate high level results to senior management.
Produce written deliverables for technical design, system testing and implementation activities.
Design queries to perform data mining, data analytics, and data extractions across business databases using various data mining tools (SAS, SQL, MS Access).
Determine the best methods of integrating data from several different sources and formats for use in Advanced Data Analyses.
Develop, maintain and improve reporting tools used for statistical modeling, quantitative assessment, exploratory data mining and tracking/reporting.
Perform statistical analysis using SAS, SQL, Toad and other industry standard tools to analyze large transactional datasets to identify potentially suspicious transactions which warrant further review.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics or related field or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
An advanced degree.
Certifications: CPA, CFE, CISA, CISSP, PMP, and/or CEH.
Strong understanding of risk management methodology and factors.
Experience with data visualization tools, i.e. Tableau, Qlik
Capability to learn multiple programming languages/Database Engines for the purposes of analyzing and using data (i.e. R, Python); not software development.
Knowledge of the tools, technologies and practices needed to perform in-depth analysis of both structured transactional data, and semi-structured or unstructured data.
Strong business analytical skills; capability to apply business logic to design and implement data mining techniques on large data sets as well as communicate findings in a user-friendly manner.
Comfort working with extremely large data sets, i.e. “Big Data”.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team in a fast changing environment with changing priorities and changing time constraints.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
Experience in normalizing data to ensure it is homogeneous and consistently formatted to enable sorting, query and analysis.
Capability to write clear, concise reports and presentations with a capability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); organizational and documentation skills.
Consolidated issues for management level review; developed clear written recommendations, which require minimal editing; presents recommendations and resolved issues with management.
