Verizon Network Engineer - Incident Management in Ashburn, Virginia

What you’ll be doing...

When our customers have a major technology incident that impacts their critical applications and services, you’ll be there to take charge and manage the situation. You will be responsible for driving multiple activities to restore services in a way that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Your role will be pivotal to make sure that the incident management process work as planned and that we learn from these situations to continually improve.The Assigned Client Engineer will provide dedicated support for Linux, Windows, VMware and custom application components within a complex environment. This position will serve as a customer-focused solution SME and will provide both escalation and engineering support to the customer as well as the Verizon 24x7 service desk. This is a customer-facing support & engineering role with On-Call responsibilities.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience managing and monitoring VMware clusters from vSphere and ESXi CLI.

  • Experience with one or more of the following VMware components: NSX, vSAN, vRealize, vRA, vRO.

  • Experience deploying and/or supporting Distributed Firewalls and/or SDNs.

  • Experience supporting Hyper-Converged hardware (Cisco, Dell, Nutanix).

  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts and troubleshooting practices in an Enterprise environment.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.

  • Ability to install, configure and support Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012.

  • Ability to install, configure and support various versions of Linux RHEL and CentOS.

  • ITILv3 Certification.

  • VMware certification(s).

  • CCNA/CCNP certifications.

  • PowerShell experience.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Highly motivated self-starter that is able to work independently or as a member of a team.

  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency with complete follow-through – accountability.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic self-directed team.

  • Application development.

  • MS System Center, Microsoft Clustering, MS SQL Server experience.

  • SAN proficiency (EMC).

  • Active Directory.

  • LDAP.
