Verizon Security Analyst in Ashburn, Virginia
What you’ll be doing...
Your primary responsibility is to respond to and investigate network security events for our managed security services team, and specifically for theGNOSC (Government Network Operations and Security Center),ensuringcustomers receive professional service and prompt response to their needs. This position is comprised of security incident handling (60%) change management (10-20%), device and health monitoring as well as systems maintenance (10-20%). The position is full time – eight hours per day working theovernight shift (11pm-7:30am) from our Ashburn, VA location. Responsibilities include:
Security incident handling involves investigating issues to determine if there is a real security incident or a false positive, notifying customers as needed, and sending customers standardized emails specifying the steps they need to take to fix the problems. Typical systems involved include Splunk/customized SIEMs, customer portals/Remedy ticketing. You are often the first to see an issue, or the issue may have been escalated from another team/management
Initiating and working security incident management tickets and responding to trouble calls/emails from customers
Change management involves processing change requests relating to security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and RSA SecurID servers
Device and health monitoring involves troubleshooting network connectivity problems concerning managed security devices, often time working with Advanced Support Team engineers and/or vendors/partner technology teams on device replacement/reconfig
Prepare shift turnover and shift seport to ensure continuous smooth continuous workflows between shifts
What we’re looking for...
You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years of relevant experience
3 or more years of experience as a security analyst investigating security incidents and events, packet capture and payload analysis experience
Must have a current, active Secret government security clearance, or be eligible to qualify for a secret government clearance
Must be able to work overnight 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Even Better If You AlsoHave:
Experience with security tools like Splunk, Cisco ASA, JunOS, Fortinet, Sourcefire, Checkpoint, Tripwire, Bluecoat Proxy
Experience dealing with customer service requests and experience operating under service level agreements
Active technical certifications in the Security field - CEH, GCIH, CCNP - Security, Security+, etc
Additional vendor technology experience a plus
Knowledge of ITIL and/or previous work in an ISO operating environment, ITILv3 certification
