Verizon Senior Security Analyst in Ashburn, Virginia
What you’ll be doing...
As our Senior Security Analyst for the 24x7 Government Network Operations and Security Center (GNOSC), you will support the security incident response, device change management, and customer service needs of managed government security customers, ensuring they receive professional and prompt responses to their requests. As a Senior Security Analyst you may initiate tickets, or follow up on tickets escalated to you. You will respond to trouble calls/emails from customers, and ensuring proper work flows, assign trouble tickets to analysts, engineers, or other employees as appropriate. As a Senior Security Analyst, you provide advanced level security incident handling change management and also act as points of escalation for Managed Security Services Specialists, as well as perform device and health monitoring.The position is located in the Ashburn, VA location. The hours of the position are 3 p.m. - 11 p.m. either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday. Schedule flexibility is a must.
Security incident handling: investigating SEM incidents for malicious intent, notifying customers as needed, and recommending proper remediation path
Change management: processing change requests relating to security devices such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and RSA SecurID servers
Device and health monitoring: troubleshooting network connectivity problems concerning managed security devices, often time working with Advanced Support Team engineers and/or vendors/partner technology teams
SLA attainment: ensure ticket buckets have been "scrubbed" and that issues are followed through until completion or escalation
Prepare Shift turnover and Shift Report: Ensure continuous smooth continuous workflows between shifts
Assisting junior analysts with:
Payload analysis (packet analysis)
Health/alert monitoring (HM/AM)

What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience triaging, investigating, and solving network threats as a security analyst
Active clearance or eligibility to obtain, a government security clearance at the secret level
Willingness to work a 5 day, 40 hour week schedule of 3 p.m. – 11 p.m., either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday.
Must have flexibility to work other schedules if/as needed across a 24/7 operations team
Even better if you have:
An Associate’s Degree or 4 or more years of experience triaging, investigating, and solving network threats as a security analyst
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or other technical field
4 or more years of experience analyzing packet capture/payload
Experience training and mentoring junior analysts
Experience with ArcSight, Splunk or similar SEM engine
Active technical certifications in the Security field
Experience with Cisco Sourcefire/Firepower, Checkpoint, Tripwire, Bluecoat Proxy, Fortinet, FireEye, Palo Alto
ITILv3 certification and/or knowledge of ITIL framework
CISSP, CEH, Sec+, NISPOM IAT Level 2/3
Experience working in an ISO operating environment
Experience delivering on customer service requests
