Position Summary:

The Procurement Specialist is part of a Procurement team which is responsible for the day to day tactical purchasing activities to meet the needs of the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and purchasing of materials and commodities required by the site and required to achieve production plan.

  • Coordinate and communicate purchasing procedures and philosophies to suppliers and internal customers.

  • Has the authority to place parts or products on hold if a question arises in regard to a potential hazard or some serious malfunction or nonconformance to specs has been identified.

  • Understand and enforce execution of our Supplier Quality requirements and best practices.

  • Escalate and expedite urgent needs and communicate to stakeholders.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels consistent with inventory demand while maintaining specific inventory requirements.

  • In conjunction with assigned suppliers, develop, implement, and track programs for supplier quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership to ensure that supplier performance standards are met.

  • Manage product end of life activities related to inventory and procurement.

  • Expedite outstanding materials from suppliers as required to meet customer satisfaction goals. Responsible for enforcing escalation procedures as required.

  • Manage non-inventory requisitions.

  • Support meeting inventory goals for purchased material.

  • Perform special assignments and projects as required.

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory below days of supply (DOS) goals.

  • Through proactive review, monitoring and escalation, ensure production lines do not have part shortages.

  • Review and manage master data settings.

  • Work with the Planning team to manage and update forecasts and effectively communicate to suppliers.

  • Participate in Root Cause Counter Measures to improve the performance of the business.

  • Participate in PPI and Strategic Sourcing activities to actively implement improvements that will benefit company goals.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years work experience in procurement

  • Working knowledge of MRP and ERP principles and materials management

  • High degree of independence and initiative

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent with customer/supplier relations

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to follow through on tasks to completion

  • Ability to work well with others, self-motivated, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
