Kaiser Permanente Consultant, Six Sigma Black Belt - Performance Improvement - GA in Atlanta, Georgia

The Performance Improvement Consultant will be an expert advocate of Lean, Six Sigma, and Model for Improvement methodology and philosophy and will hold a Black Belt in Six Sigma. The position will be responsible leading multiple complex performance improvement projects out of the regional program office to achieve organizational performance improvement goals. The position will also provide mentoring and coaching of new Blackbelts, Lead Improvement Advisors, Managers, Front-line staff, and leaders in Performance Improvement.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with Manager of Performance Improvement to support day to day operation of regions Project Management Office.

  • Responsible for collaborating, developing, and leading training programs as a part of Kaiser Permanente's Performance Improvement model.

  • Responsible for directing multiple/complex projects from intake to completion including intake, prioritization, creation of timelines, staffing, communication, study methodology, analysis and report generation.

  • Develops and monitors project progress.

  • Collaborates with UBT team on techniques, processes and methodologies to analyze and improve performance issues related to systems and processes on the front line.

  • Collaborates with Center for Analytics team and Project Managers to provide comprehensive analysis that leads to hard-wired solutions with project closure.

  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve quality, cost, and time factors, consistent with business objectives.

  • Ensure robust processes from successful projects are transferred to Operations at a facility level.

  • Manages organizational resistance to change.

  • Provide expertise and facilitation to improvement advisors and operational managers in the planning and managing of projects and tasks related to analysis and redesign of business processes.

  • Work with internal and external clients to develop departmental evaluation and measurement tools in support of documented, and collaboratively developed, service level agreements.

  • Where appropriate, conduct metric and process benchmarking activities with other organizations within and outside the industry.

  • Establish and maintain superior client relationships at all levels of the region.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years of related recent experience as a LSS Black Belt.


  • Bachelor's degreeOR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification or Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices and systems.

  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.

  • Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.

  • Viewed as functional expert in field within KP.

  • Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.

  • Lean six sigma black belt with several successful projects with cost savings.

  • Teacher and mentor to LSS students.

  • Healthcare industry working experience (especially hospitals) is a plus but not absolutely required.

  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years as a Black Belt with change management skills and Emotional IQ.

  • Project Management Professional Certification preferred.
