POSITION PURPOSE

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead implementation for our flatbed distribution network. This engineering role will be responsible for on-site implementation work as we roll out 40 new direct fulfillment centers. These new direct fulfillment centers will deliver goods directly to our customers.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Stand up and open distribution centers

  • Implement overall project plan

  • Build engineering practices

  • Project Management

  • Training

  • Analytics

  • Facility layout

  • Operational processes

  • Slotting

  • Capital requirements

Oversees and supports multiple implementation projects

Assists in implementation of new warehouse management system

Insures implementations are complete on time, on budget, and to customer expectations

Manages and delegates tasks multiple teams

Develops solutions that leverage the Company' s volumes, systems and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.

Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management in order to achieve efficient product distribution.

Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.

Advises IS and system users in the development and implementation of logistics systems improvements and changes.

Responds to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors.

Tests vendor software packages to identify potential shortcomings; ascertains vendors' ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications.

Reports to Sr. Manager

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Up to 75%

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Graduate) desirable

Engineering experience

Retail experience

Ability to complete work in partnership with a variety of different people in various departments who do not directly report to the implementation manager.

Business acumen and strategic thinking skills.

Well-developed presentation skills (oral and written).

Strong analytical skills

Ability to maintain composure and productivity in a dynamic environment.
