Kaiser Permanente Executive Director, IT Resiliency in Atlanta, Georgia
This position is accountable for the complex business and technical initiatives that support KP-s national Healthcare Continuity Management program. Accountable for leading the IT Continuity functions, including Business Continuity Planning, Incident Command Planning and Response, and Disaster Recovery for Kaiser Permanente-s most critical business functions and applications. Responsible for providing strategic and executive direction to the Continuity teams; engage with executive leaders from the Regions, Portfolios, Program Office and Medical Groups as trusted colleagues, partners and advisors on disaster recovery and resiliency strategies needed to achieve the mission and vision of KP. Responsible for executive leadership and execution of program deliverables across the Continuity initiatives.
Develop, manage and track multi-year project plan for large projects of varying scale related to IT Resiliency. This leader is accountable and responsible for partnering with Healthcare Continuity Management, regional BIOs, business application owners, internal and external strategic partners (like IBM, DR Managed Service vendor) to agree on multi-year schedules for the various projects for Business Continuity Planning, Incident Command Planning and Disaster Recovery. A multi-year project plan will include, but not limited to, well defined scope, detail schedule, project budget, revised forecast, resource plan, change management plan, and communication/stakeholder management plan.
Responsible for Communications and Regional Engagement teams, by partnering with IT Communications by establishing regional, portfolio and organizational stakeholder and communication plans. This leader is accountable and responsible for the stakeholder management for the Business Operations Continuity (which includes BCP, ICP and DR); including, but not limited to, regular meetings with governance committees (including working groups, steering committee, and regional engagement committees), regional BIOs, business application owners, and strategic partners to develop and/or gain endorsement of strategic and operational decisions.
Establishing and sustaining relationships with IT and business leadership. This leader is accountable and responsible for working with various functions across the enterprise and KP-IT organization, plus develop working relationships to support the Availability of Kaisers systems. This includes all national data centers and over 2,000 applications.
Enhance IT Resiliency. This leader is accountable for ensuring KP IT is prepared to respond during a crisis with appropriate command and control including both regional and national events. This includes working with senior leaders to ensure Execute Crisis Management protocols are in place and that they are activated appropriately. This role is also the champion of IT Resiliency through regular communication channels and via Preparedness Fairs and other related functions. The role represents KP IT Resiliency at regional and national resiliency organizations.
Lead the Recovery from a disaster or crisis. In the event of a disaster, this individual is responsible for executing on the strategies developed to avoid critical system outages. Plus be the conduit between IT and Enterprise Resiliency and Disaster Recovery.
- Minimum ten (10) years of progressive IT solutions experience in roles of increasing responsibility, expertise in large project implementation is desired.
- Candidate must possess an undergraduate level degree in a technical discipline, ideally computer science, MIS or business, with an advanced degree as a decided plus.
License, Certification, Registration
Additionally, proven experience should include success in multi-disciplinary leadership capability, ability to grow and develop high performance teams that are geographically dispersed within a matrixed organization, and a customer focus are desired.
Demonstrated ability to determine the key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration.
The successful candidate will be proficient in team building, conflict resolution, group interaction, project management, and cost effective and budget management.
They will have the demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis; have excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, project management, change management, and group process.
The candidate must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation.
The understanding of the operations of KP is preferred and they must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Candidates will have demonstrated background in managing large scale projects and/or organizations, communicating with senior executives of large, complex organizations, and understanding the importance of stakeholder management.
Candidate must also display the ability to work with a fast-changing environment.
Being flexible, learning agile, drawing upon a broad range of technical and soft skills, and a willingness to go the distance for KP/KP-IT, is critical in this role.
Characteristics of the executive director include; excellent listening skills, the ability to lead and inspire a team, excellent presentation skills and results oriented leadership.
This role must be able to prioritize work while being analytical, a creative thinker, flexible, focused and tenacious about getting things done.
A background in project management with the ability to assist in developing and overseeing a detailed project schedule in MS Project is needed.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in successfully influencing / managing complex organizational initiatives involving multiple functions and multiple business units/regions to include identification and articulation of problems, influencing decision-making process as well as delivery of expected results.
