Your Role and Responsibilities
Lead Consultants bring a minimum of 10+ years experience leading multi-disciplined teams on complex consulting engagements, in a client facing role dealing with senior management functions. The Lead Consultant will be expected to shape and own multi-discipline/multi-competency project teams, while being a primary interface for client executives for regular status and issues that emerge. They lead the adoption of emerging technologies and approaches in their client’s organizations and processes. In addition to their subject matter expertise, they have strong leadership skills and further the evolution of intellectual capital assets and developing practice resources. They must possess knowledge of major cloud technologies and service providers, including virtualization, containers, IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure and Red Hat and have experience of guiding clients in their adoption and exploitation of these platforms. They must have experience capturing & prioritizing complex requirements, resolving conflicting requirements, and obtaining client buy in on assumptions made to fill gaps in critical requirements. Additionally, expertise in the focal areas of cloud technology strategy, architecture, service management and/or resiliency is required. Such experience must include articulating technology options to clients, advising how to make strategic choices and decisions, and exploring innovative ways to help clients accelerate their digital transformation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Routinely required to be involved in selling ranging from initial client exploratory meeting, gathering requirements, structuring solution bid, and ramping up the team for execution.
Analyze client current state, define key outcomes, define/revise IT strategy, design conceptual solutions, plan and execute design and implementation work (with support from technical specialists), while accounting for time, cost and quality targets
Accountable for successful delivery of highly complex, multi-disciplined consulting engagements that deliver lasting and measurable value to clients
Develop a point of view, capture, prioritize and analyze technical (functional and non-functional) requirements
Possess strong leadership skills and further the evolution of intellectual capital assets and developing practice resources
Assemble and lead a team of consultants and architects with engagement management oversight
Manage the engagement contracts to terms and conditions
Educate, mentor and coach teams in applying consulting techniques
Facilitate and capture lessons learned from engagements to update methodologies and assets
Conduct consulting lunch and learns to disseminate knowledge
Lead the effort to expand service offerings
Manage and lead multi-discipling complex engagements with multiple teams
Lead a group of individuals to ensure they are mentored, have skills, objectives and learning plans along with support to attain utilization KPIs
Be a recognized though leader inside of IBM and outside in the market
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
Cloud consulting practice leadership with an IT professional services “big 4” firm or similar background focused on IT strategy enablement
Knowledge of major cloud technologies including virtualization, containers, networking etc. on different cloud platforms and additional knowledge or experience in the areas of IT and/or cloud technology architecture, service management and/or resiliency is a plus
Subject matter expertise in at least three domains (e.g. cloud computing, IT strategy, infrastructure, IT operations, applications, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, automation, data management, AI/ML, IoT and cloud governance models) to advise on industry-leading solutions
Familiarity with Fortune 2000 sized firms and their challenges
Leadership of multi-discipline/competency complex technology solutions/programs
Led a practice, delivering on revenue, signing and profit, managing utilization of consultants, and shaping and delivering complex technology solutions
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
Understanding of DevOps, Agile, Scrum construct to identify inefficiencies for cloud adoption through readiness assessments and development of strategies/approaches to optimize the implementation of cloud resources and capabilities
Knowledge of major cloud technologies including virtualization, containers, networking etc. on different cloud platforms like IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP and Red Hat and have experience of advising clients with respect to these platforms
Ability to lead value stream mapping and project planning workshops
Knowledge of IT Operating Model and Process Frameworks
Awareness of broad competencies and depth in specific competency areas
Communication & documentation skills to articulate structured problem solving, data gathering, and analysis to reach conclusions and recommendations that can be packaged into a roadmap of initiatives and/or backlog
Deep understanding of service portfolio for at least one cloud provider
