Home Depot Manager, Accounting - Finance Innovation and Transformation in Atlanta, Georgia

MANAGER ACCOUNTING – FINANCE INNOVATION AND TRANSFORMATION

POSITION PURPOSE

This Manager Finance Innovation and Transformation (FIT) position manages people and processes related to leveraging automation, data analytics, and continuous improvement to support Corporate Controller and Tax Team’s success strategies. The role manages cross-functional workstreams in the delivery of approved projects with a focus on results that improve controls, reduce risks, and improve efficiency and effectiveness. This role is expected to leverage effective communication skills to translate complex requirements and solutions with a passion to learn and develop.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Planning and executing the month end close process

  • Review the monthly profit and loss statements; verify accuracy of the accounting entries

  • Monitor and review THD policies and verify the are in compliance with GAAP.

  • Review account reconciliations to verify compliance with Finance Account Rec Standards

  • Extensive involvement with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance team ; review and compliance certification of accounting procedures.

  • Supervise managing team of 5-6 Sr Accountants and a staff of 20 accountants.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Typically reports to Director - Finance, Financial Reporting, North American Accounting

  • Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, or related field is preferred

  • CBAP, Lean Six Sigma

  • 3 years of experience working in large, matrixed Retail organization

  • 2 years of focused experience in Business Process Re-engineering, Standardization and Continuous Improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate organizational structures and build credibility with internal clients / stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complexities of competing priorities and program inter-dependencies

  • Ability to demonstrate strong business acumen; experience implementing financial processes and systems with an ability to discriminate between symptoms and root causes.

  • Excellent facilitator capable of influencing people over which he / she has no authority

  • Ability to direct, coach and mentor analysts and other junior members of the team.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Experience in planning and executing a month-end closing process for a large company

  • SAP experience helpful

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
