Home Depot Manager, Building Envelope in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE:

Manager Building Envelope will lead the team responsible for all expense repairs and capital replacement of our US stores for fire systems, doors, roofs and buglar alarm system. He/she will develop and excute strategic Initiatives that will bring value to The Home Depot and provide a safe, comfortable, funtional and efficient enviroment for our customers and associates.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and report an all major and minor field maintenance and repair of Company buildings, facilities, and equipment including common area / building repairs, energy consumption, equipment repairs and maintenance of equipment.

  • Prioritizes maintenance activities and coordinates same with field maintenance teams (i.e Store Planners, Construction staff, Regional Maintenance Managers and/or DC Maintenance Managers).

  • Prepares and monitors all maintenance project budgets.

  • Coordinates daily, weekly and monthly services for buildings, facilities, and equipment.

  • Researches and secures bids/proposals for regional requests, major repairs and contracts.

  • Inspects buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and supports the field maintenance staff as needed.

  • Manages operation of maintenance call center.

  • Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • Typically reports to Sr. Manager, Building Services

  • Typically this Manager has 3 direct reports

  • Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.

  • Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.

  • Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management's goals and standards.

  • Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Environment:

Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience is preferred.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and develop business partner relationships to achieve company goals.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Project management skills that include the ability to create short and long term strategies, including elements needed to execute set expectations.

  • Ability to manage budgets associated with both capital and expense spend.

  • Experience with process improvement and implementation, playing a leadership role.

  • Experience with managing either internal or external groups (ex. Vendors, teams, etc.).

  • Ability to influence others without direct authority. Knowledge in analyzing data trends and reporting.

  • Ability to source and interpret data from a variety of applications.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, and Powerpoint).

  • Management or experience in operations of a multi-store retail environment.

  • Desire to support and provide excellent customer service to field and internal partners including Regional/Senior Directors and Regional Vice Presidents

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Typically requires three to five years contract administration and/or vendor relations experience.

  • People management/supervisory experience.

  • Maintenance and/or construction experience

  • Planning and project management skills.

  • Communication skills.

  • Leadership skills.
