Home Depot Manager, Graphic Design, Story Lab in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager Content & Strategy, Story Lab will be responsible for managing the visual editorial content and strategically driving corporate messages through appropriate print and electronic media to reach targeted internal and external audiences. Responsible for managing content planning and creation, editorial, development of external and internal communications strategies. This role will work cross-functionally to stay abreast of company priorities and trends, and is challenged to consider new technologies and visual avenues to further enhance Home Depot’s storytelling efforts.

This role will manage the visual communications team in support of the Corporate Communications and External Affairs teams with their graphic design and production needs. Responsibilities include design of event signage, collateral items, web and social media content, print and online content, presentations for speaking engagements and proposals, assets for internal communication channels, as well as, vendor coordination, creative agency management, support for video production and management of deliverables. Additional responsibilities include creating and managing brand standards for print, photography and video.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50% Manage visual communications for Home Depot’s owned content channels, including the corporate newsroom, Built from Scratch, Orange magazine and intranet editorial content. Responsibilities include visual content creation, editorial, content strategy, production, measurement and reporting.

  • 45% Manage strategic communications for Story Lab special projects and initiatives.

  • 5% Manage agency partner relationships.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Typically reports to Senior Manager of Story Lab

  • Accountable for the management of the Story Lab visual communications team of four direct reports and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7 years

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of driving the communication process from concept to delivery.

  • Strong familiarity with offset and digital printing is required, with an understanding of web and online production.

  • Graphic design skills with a solid knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint is required.

  • Experience managing graphic design, print production, distribution and fulfillment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

  • Photography and video editing skills preferred.
