Home Depot Manager Real Estate Accounting in Atlanta, Georgia

POSITION PURPOSE

The Manager of Real Estate Accounting manages all facets of Real Estate Accounting including over $41 billion of book and tax fixed assets, lease accounting and compliance, GAAP compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley controls and compliance, property sales and relocations, process improvements, reporting both internal and external, book/tax reconciliations for inclusion with Federal and State income tax returns, provides information used in computation of deferred taxes, provide support for IRS and State tax audits, review of asset ledgers in effort to reduce property taxes, budgeting, forecasting, and review of the occupancy section of the profit and loss statement.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversees the analysis of income and balance sheet statements and other reports.

  • Reviews and monitors all procedures and reconciliations for GAAP compliance.

  • Oversees management and integrity of the fixed asset system and project system.

  • Maintains and manages resources to complete the monthly close cycle.

  • Oversees special studies that develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures.

  • · Selects, develops and motivates all staff and senior staff.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Typically reports to a Sr. Manager of REA.

  • Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.

  • Must be able to adjust and work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment

  • · Ability to communicate effectively and confidently across all levels of management

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Travel - Typically requires overnight travel less than 20% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Qualifications:

A Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Public Accountant

SAP Experience

Prior experience in public accounting

Experience in system management- Fixed Assets or Project Systems

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Financial Analysis

Written and verbal communication skills

Strong problem solving skills

Ability to identify and assess financial statement risk

Must be able to multi-task and balance multiple high priority tasks
