Home Depot Operations Business Analyst, Energy Management - Building Services in Atlanta, Georgia
This Energy Analyst position will play a key role in The Home Depot’s energy management efforts. Workstreams will include both demand and supply-side projects as well as detailed financial analysis. Success in this position is determined by effectively utilizing multiple tools (energy management systems, utility bill database, P&L reporting tools) to support initiatives focused on reducing energy spend. The analyst will be required to Identify, distinguish and analyze multiple components of a problem and then make conclusions using high-level quantitative skills to help drive projects and bring value to the Home Depot.
This role will involve significant collaboration both internally among the energy management and building services teams, as well as externally with third party vendors. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage across multiple departments to optimize The Home Depot's energy consumption and spend, and to help spread the messaging around those efforts both internally and publicly.
Key responsibilities include:
Use strategic thinking to see the big picture, identify opportunities, and understand the fundamental aspects of those opportunities
Synthesize findings and derive conclusions from analyses and make oral/written recommendations to upper management. Execute tasks related to core energy projects and/or process improvements, and communicate issues/roadblocks to leaders
Analyze utilities consumption and spend (electric, natural gas, water) to identify drivers of variances to plan and prior periods
Investigate outliers of consumption or spend and answer Profit and Loss questions raised by various stakeholders across the organization
Identify/track trends in utility rates and regulatory proceedings that could impact Home Depot spend
Create annual store level utilities spend budgets
Evaluate the costs/benefits of potential alternative energy projects and other cost reduction strategies
Track performance (both production and dollar value) of alternative energy initiatives over time (rooftop solar, offsite solar, wind, fuel cells, battery storage)
Support project management and implementation efforts related to alternative energy projects
Collaborate with third party bill pay provider to ensure utility accounts are in good standing and billing is correct
Manage facility energy benchmarking activities to ensure The Home Depot is in compliance with local requirements
Business Analysts support energy management leadership on large projects and initiatives and individual processes that bring value to The Home Depot. They must possess a high level of analytical ability to distinguish multiple components of a problem and develop conclusions using quantitative skills. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating effectively to teams and leaders, reviewing and understanding sales/financial data, identifying trends in business and the retail industry. A successful Operations Business Analyst will possess and demonstrate strong analytical ability, communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and accountability.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Use strategic thinking to see the big picture, determine the problem and understand fundamental parts of the problem
Prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
Review sales/financial analyses (what sold/did not sell; determine which categories have potential to move upward; cost/benefit analysis; data process modeling/analysis of problems, regression analysis).
Identify trends in consumer lifestyle and technology; conduct customer focus groups and analyze/synthesize findings. Scan business/industry trends;scan competitive landscape; analyze consumer data
Interpret data based on specific knowledge of statistics and procedures used. Provide data to all Directors to support decision making. Provide input on forecast based on knowledge of product and technology.
Provide input on strategy based on knowledge of industry and technology trends. Provide customers with specialized information from a variety of resources. Facilitate workout problem-solving sessions with multiple groups of people.

Execute day to day processes related to their areas of responsibility. Communicate issues and roadblocks related to their areas of responsibility.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Operations Process Manager or Business Manager
No direct responsibility for supervising others.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
