Verizon Telematics is looking for a Security Engineer to assist in the creation and operation of an information security architecture that defines the technology, policies, procedures and processes required to address the organization’s security needs.The Security Engineer will provide security services to and complement the information technology architecture while integrating with the business' global architecture. This framework will provide for the secure operation of computing platforms, operating systems, and networks, for IT, R&D, and Production environments.

Responsibilities:

• Continually evaluate vendor's product strategies and future product statements, and advise which will be most appropriate to pursue;• Development of sound security policies and procedures;• Participate in security projects and program development;• Develop expertise to function as subject matter expert in multiple technical or business disciplines;• Develops strong partnerships with business clients, application developers, software vendors and other technical resources;• Conduct complex security policy violation investigations;• Monitor for inappropriate utilization of computer resources;• Provide Tier 3 incident response support in the event of a critical security incident;• Assess reported security threats and weaknesses;• Provide system upgrade support for security operations’ technology stack;• Provide input on information security strategies; and• Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation as required.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:• The individual must have 5+ years’ experience in a security engineer or similar role;• Strong knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and Windows Operating System vulnerabilities and secure configuration settings;• A strong working knowledge, and experience, concerning the best practices and implementation of security devices at all levels of a typical defense in depth strategy, (e.g., Firewalls, EDR/AV, Email Security, IDS/IPS, SEIM, WAF, FIM, CASB, DLP, etc…)• Strong knowledge of threats and vulnerabilities associated with application, cloud, operating system, and network security;• Working knowledge of regex, as well as various scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Javascript;• Working knowledge of cloud security best practices and product solutions;• Understanding of current, popular attack vectors including phishing, drive-by downloads, exploit kits, and server exploitation;• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation;• Ability to plan and manage projects;• Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates;• The position requires that the individual have a sense of urgency to address new technologies being deployed;• Demonstrated ability to work across geographical locations;• General knowledge of encryption techniques including key management;• General knowledge of system and network forensic tools and techniques; • Strong oral and written communications skills.

Even better if you have:• Experience working with a CASB;• Experience working with mobile security solutions;• Experience working with Apple products such as MacBooks;• Experience working with various DLP monitoring and prevention tools;• BS or advanced degree in computer science or related discipline preferred;• CISSP, SANS, and other security related certifications.
