POSITION PURPOSE

The SEO Content Strategist is responsible for ideating, writing, and editing multiplatform digital content. This position plays a key role in increasing THD.com’s search engine presence & position by strategically developing content that achieves specific SEO goals. The SEO Content Strategist will collaborate with various internal teams to identify content opportunities and ensure strategy is accurate & comprehensive. You will own the entire content lifecycle - researching, planning, writing, editing, and publishing following SEO & UX best practices. This role may involve working with outside agencies to help support content creation efforts.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50%- Digital content creation: Write new content ensuring style, quality, & tone are consistent and on-brand. For each content piece, you will implement SEO best practices such as leveraging semantically related keywords, implementing proper headers, and optimizing page structure for featured snippets.

  • 15%- Digital content ideation: Conduct competitor analyses, content audits, & content gap analyses. Work with various internal teams to finalize content form, objectives, & components.

  • 15%- Project management: Lead and oversee all efforts to create, design, code, & publish content – collaborating with both internal teams and outside agencies.

  • 10%- Video optimization: Ensure SEO best practices are applied to all videos including, but not limited to, titles, descriptions, transcripts, and schema markup.

  • 10%- Blog optimization: Ensure SEO best practices are applied to all blog posts including, but not limited to, titles, descriptions, and schema markup.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to SEO Manager of Content Strategy.

This position has no direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:

Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Experience with project management tools

  • Experience with SEO reporting tools and platforms such as Google Webmaster Tools, BrightEdge & Conductor Searchlight

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Experience ideating, writing, and editing digital content

  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills

  • Experience setting up & publishing digital content within a CMS platform

  • Experience implementing white hat SEO tactics

  • Solid understanding of UX & content marketing best practices

  • Curiosity about developing SEO & marketing trends

  • Ability to put yourself in customer’s shoes to create UX-based content

  • Project management experience with web-based projects

  • Passionate about creative work and thinking outside-the-box

  • Excellent communication & strategic problem-solving skills

  • Team-oriented – ability to partner with internal teams and create collaborative content within a highly matrixed organization

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Experience managing projects in Box or similar file management system
