Verizon Staff Counsel in Atlanta, Georgia

What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Connect seeks an experienced and highly-motivated attorney to serve as Staff Counsel in its Atlanta headquarters. The attorney will provide support on major legal initiatives, such as compliance (at the corporate and product level), regulatory and privacy risk assessments and legislative policies impacting the business. The position requires someone with an eye for detail who can adroitly manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Staff Counsel will report to Verizon Connect’s Associate General Counsel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Verizon Connect’s compliance, including its products, with all laws, regulations and contractual commitments.

  • Provide feedback on proposed legislation and other advocacy initiatives impacting the business.

  • Assist with handling/resolution of customer complaints and internal compliance investigations.

  • Develop and draft corporate policies and develop and implement associated processes to comply with them.

  • Review and advise on training materials and conduct compliance training.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate any areas of risk.

  • Advise Verizon Connect’s leaders on legal matters impacting the business.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • JD degree anda minimum of 6 - 8 years of recent, relevant, proven legal experience

  • Licenses: Active and in good standing of at least one state bar.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with and proficiency in location based services, privacy and other related laws, regulations and industry rules

  • Experience with a major law firm and/or in-house

  • Experience in the communications or wireless technology industry

  • Proven ability to professionally manage time, communicate both written and orally,prioritize multiple responsibilities, and process a high volume of work in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to spot problems and develop and lead implementation of appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of personnel and enforce legal requirements without alienating clients.

  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of GSuite and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely sensitive and confidential information.
