Position Title Senior Environmental Scientist
New Zealand - Auckland
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Scientist to join our friendly Natural Resources team in Auckland. We work in a range of engineering, infrastructure, transport and contaminated land projects for governmental agencies and industrial clients. We undertake, in particular, assessment of environmental effects, water quality assessments, environmental monitoring, environmental audits, preparation of management plans, and stakeholder consultation.
As an Environmental Scientist, you will:
Work with the team supporting a wide range of environmental consulting services.
Prepare for and undertake field work under minimal supervision, in various environmental aspects including but not limited to water quality and stormwater sampling.
Analyse environmental monitoring data against applicable guidelines.
Input to catchment management assessments and options identification for stormwater catchments.
Write technical reports such as environmental investigation reports, environmental management plans, catchment management plans and able to communicate results in a clear and concise manner.
Contribute to successful project completion by providing technical expertise in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives.
Obtain precise information about work scope from client/manager by active listening and clear communication.
Contribute to client satisfaction through being responsive, timely and effective in all communication with clients.
Maintain and develop expertise and keep abreast of developments in the environmental sector.
Actively participate in improvement processes.
Communicate effectively with your manager and team members regarding resourcing and service delivery
The person appointed will also be responsible for assisting project managers and in the preparation and presentation of proposals to clients, and developing and enhancing relationships with clients and AECOM staff and suppliers.
We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a 'can do' attitude and strong client focus who is able to demonstrate:
3-5 years' relevant working experience in environmental science or engineering. Water quality, stormwater discharge, catchment management and environmental engineering (Water Sensitive Urban Design) experience would be ideal.
Exceptional levels of written and oral communication.
Natural organiser and planner.
Autonomous and able to take initiatives.
Enthusiasm and integrity.
Competent in systems: Project Management tools, MS office suite.
Knowledge of the market for consulting services.
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in environmental science or engineering
