Kaiser Permanente Supply Chain Director in Aurora, Colorado

The Supply Chain Director will direct and oversee the supply chain functions of sourcing/contracting, systems, purchasing logistics and medical center inventory management. The Supply Chain Director will also manage local medical and nonmedical spend for the Region, ensure cost savings, achievement of budget targets, relevant performance metrics, compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and annual supplier diversity goals. Proactively seek best practices and partners with regional and national functions in Enterprise Shared Services solutions to leverage standardized processes, metrics, tools and resources in support of both Regional and National objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

Directs the activities and performance of the sourcing/contracting function in the management of local medical and non-medical spend; this includes negotiation of regional contracts in order to supplement the national contract portfolio, develops contract documents in accordance with corporate standards, and identifies opportunities to reduce regional spend through detailed financial and opportunity analysis. Leads regional effort to implement national agreements and ensures that relevant cost savings are achieved.

Directs the activities and performance of the logistics function in the management of the regional warehouse, the third party courier services provider, the third-party clinical and administrative archival services provider, the of company fleet vehicles, the provision of move services and the Regional Offices Services Center.

Directs the activities and performance of the Materials Coordinators and defines the overall strategy for optimizing medical center inventory. Develops procedures to standardize par levels across medical specialties. Manages the function consistent with the requirements of clinical operations and in a manner that minimizes the time necessary for clinical staff to obtain the supplies they need to provide patient care. Develops and drives the implementation and adoption of the national Supply Chain Transformation Initiatives across the medical centers including all clinical areas (eg procedural and non-procedural).

Directs the activities and performance of the buy-to-pay process to include the activities of the purchasing staff, AP Optimization Lead and the capital/project buyers. Manages the resources necessary to process match exceptions and takes proactive steps to minimize them. Serves as the regional liaison for the purchasing card program and travel expense reconciliation. Provides additional coordination for large, complex capital projects.

Establishes performance metrics and develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure the effectiveness of all processes and ensures the integrity all transactions in accordance with defined performance standards and associated Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Leads change management initiatives for the Region related to process changes in the materials management function.

Acts as liaison/champion for regional Supplier Diversity performance and initiatives. Represents and advocates for the interests of the Region on various national teams. Ensures that the Region is leveraging the capabilities of the OneLink system and that users are provisioned in a timely manner and have access to appropriate training.

Develops and mentors management team to enable the individuals to be more empowered and autonomous and to exceed appropriate developmental and performance goals.

Develops and manages the region's supply chain operating and capital budgets. Identifies and presents cost reduction and value enhancing recommendations to area management including the Local and Regional Product Councils, site leadership teams, etc to assist the site in meeting its overall budget and operational goals. Partners with regional and national functions in Enterprise Shared Services to leverage standardized processes, metrics, tools and resources in support of both Regional and National objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum eight (8) years of supply chain experience to include any combination of contracting, inventory management, analytics, logistics, equipment planning or a similar discipline.

Minimum five (5) years of management or director experience level at a large, complex organization, including experience leading teams, managing strategic initiatives, and financial analysis/budget management required.

Minimum three (3) years process improvement experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Education

Bachelor degree in business, health care, supply chain or a related field required.

Additional Requirements:

Experience in complex analytic problem solving, project management, communication, change management, conflict resolution, team building, and group process required.

Experience in a multi-facility health care environment.

Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Visio and Business Objects.

Experience in retail, manufacturing, demand planning, SKU rationalization and standardization, GS1.

Proven ability to determine and clearly communicate key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives required.

Demonstrated ability to achieve results while working independently and handling multiple priorities with minimal supervision required.

Strong relationship management skills required.

Conscientious attitude with an attention to detail required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business, health care, supply chain or a related field preferred.

Familiarity with organizational structure, operating principles, values and financial systems of Kaiser Permanente, including familiarity with regional and program practices and operating issues highly preferred.
