HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Trauma Nurse Coordinator in Aurora, Colorado
Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Responsible for the clinical evaluation and tracking of trauma service patients. Directs ongoing patient tracking, abstracting and data entry of trauma service patients into the trauma registry data bank. Responsible for quality assessment of patient care to include assisting with design and development of QA indicators and active participation in outcome review and informed peer review utilizing guidelines set forth by American College of Surgeons- Committee on Trauma, Colorado State trauma rules and JCAHO. Responsible for trauma Peer Review documentation and loop closure. Responsible for trauma related education coordination and documentation. Assists with development/monitoring of the budget. Provides ongoing statistical and financial reports. Assists with the development and participates in trauma research. Develops and participates in public education.
The scope and complexity of the CNC position will vary based on the number of beds/visits/procedures in the department, acuity of patients, FTEs supervised, number of different medical staff and medical staff services involved, “normal working hours” responsibility or 24/7 responsibility, the activity level of admissions, discharges and transfers per day, and the education resources available.

- *Position Requirements:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS certification. Masters, BSN degree preferred
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN Preferred or progress toward BSN with anticipated graduation within two years required.
Experience: Three years Emergency Department or Critical Care nursing. Experience must be recent, within the last 4 years. Experience in quality assurance desired. Prior experience on a Trauma Service desired.
Special Qualifications: Computer skills to include data entry and reporting. Word processing skills desirable. Knowledge and experience with ICD-9, AIS, and RTS scoring. TNCC and ACLS provider status desired. Assumes fiscal responsibility by demonstrating accountability for actions, productivity and other aspects of department programs. TNCC instructor preferred.
Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director and Nurse Manager. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
