This position reports directly to the Maintenance-Mining Supervisor.
What you will do:
Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries following Nutrien, OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory agencies rules and policies that apply
Confirm proper PPE is used, proper safety procedures are followed, Lock Out Tag Out is completed, and barricades are in place before work begins
Use the proper hand and power tools to complete job tasks
Work as part of a team to complete assignments to minimize downtime
Acquire necessary training and licenses to operate forklift, man lift, boom truck, and other equipment as needed
Pipe fitting and bolting up flanges by using proper techniques and tools
Responsible for work outcomes of their assigned work area
Complete hot work tasks by acting as a fire watch, barricading access, fire control, and checking air quality as assigned
Complete confined space permit tasks by setting up ventilation fans, monitoring air quality, and performing entrant and attendant duties as assigned
Conduct repairs on these components, and to be familiar with all health and safety regulations before starting repairs
Complete Craft and Progression Plan Training and testing for each module in the allotted time frame to ensure steady progression from Level 8 through Level 13
Use theoretical and practical knowledge to install components such as pumps, compressors, drives, gear boxes, conveyors, hydraulic components, piping, and valves
Perform Preventive Maintenance tasks by following PM check sheet and signing off to indicate tasks have been completed, forwards to supervisor for review
Utilize consumable supplies during repair activities in a cost-effective manner
Inspect hydraulic systems including checking oil levels, possible system leaks, and heat exchanger, reports concerns to supervisor to schedule repairs
Troubleshoot using established methods to isolate concerns, and then uses proper repair techniques and best practices to complete the repair
Perform housekeeping duties as assigned
Clean area prior to job completion, sign off on work order indicating area is clean
Use schematics, diagrams, repair manuals, and blueprints to locate and repair equipment
Assist electricians, welders, operators, engineers, and others to complete assigned tasks
Assist in fabricating and repair of metal components using cutting torch and welding equipment
Assist in rigging equipment and components for removal and installation by following proper rigging techniques
Review job activities and scope of jobs to determine tools necessary to complete tasks, follows up on job package and reviews changes with supervisor and planner
Conduct Pre-shift inspections of vehicles and mobile equipment before using the equipment
Complete Work Area Examination forms and corrects or reports deficiencies
Create Work Requests for deficiencies noted during PM or found while performing other repairs
What you will bring:
High school diploma or equivalent, along with high school or post-secondary courses in mechanical drawing/blueprint reading; industrial, automotive, or diesel mechanics, machining, or welding
Quick reaction-time and creative thinking skills are requirements on the job
Must have the ability to talk and give instructions to others while focusing on the primary task of conducting repairs
Ability to handle conflicting situations and task assignment changes may be needed when dealing with production concerns
Requires one to have constant attention-to-details and to be thorough in completing work-related tasks
The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.
