The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Developer Relations team is looking for a founding set of Developer Advocates to build and support OCI Cloud Native developer community – from edge computing to core IaaS cloud to container and serverless application infrastructure. We are at the forefront of helping developers leverage CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) open source technologies on top of a new, state-of-the-art bare metal cloud infrastructure. This role has a clear focus on helping developers build the next generation of innovative digital business applications that use AR, VR, IOT, and intelligent devices at the edge and compute intensive AI, ML, blockchain, and HPC apps at the core. You will help developers leverage open, agile, and adaptable application technologies including functions, containers, Kubernetes, and microservices.
Responsibilities:
Directly engage developer community at events, meetups, hackathons
Host, sponsor, attend developer community events
Build and share technical content (blogs, articles, podcasts, videos, demos, etc.)
Provide direct feedback to product management and engineering
Speak at conference events, workshops, and roadshows
Contribute code, share code snippets, debug issues
Build your brand as well as corporate brand
Work with startups, open source developers, and enterprise teams
Be the voice of the user, developer
Qualifications:
Creativity and passion to work with developers and build community
5 years of development experience
2 years of experience in developer advocacy, meetup role
Can travel at a minimum 1 week each month
Comfortable and effective speaker, writer, and communicator
Experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, DevOps, and serverless concepts
Experience with a broad base of modern programming languages to include several of (Go, Rust, Python, Java, C/C , JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, shell, etc.).
BS, BA, or MS, ideally in CS, EE, or related field. Advanced degree or equivalent desirable.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
