Who You Are

You're a User Research professional with 1-3 years of applied experience. You're passionate about identifying and connecting with our target users, and becoming their advocate to influence our products to meet their needs. You can collaborate effectively with product management, engineering, and remote teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for the user and design research, facilitate the practice of design research on your team

  • Facilitate research through collection, analysis and producing insights to lead the team towards user outcomes

  • Plan and execute user research studies that inspire exceptional user experiences

  • Present research findings and analysis with development and product management organizations advocating for recommendations that empower our users through incremental user experience improvements

  • Understand user workflows and assist design team in iterating on customer requirements

  • Continually learn and grow your skills by understanding the user research landscape and keeping up to date with the latest research trends and practices

  • Understand how you can better work with project peers to increase your team’s practice of IBM Design Research

  • Understand how to balance a high personal bar of performance, yet still remember to have fun

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated success turning generative and evaluative research insights into design recommendations that align with core business goals

  • Ability to work in an agile environment

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • BA/BS in experimental psychology, social psychology, anthropology, cognitive science, human factors, human computer interaction, sociology, user experience design or related area.

This position is located in Austin, TX

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 1 to 3 years of demonstrated success turning generative and evaluative research insights into design recommendations that align with core business goals

  • Ability to work in an agile environment

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • BA/BS in experimental psychology, social psychology, anthropology, cognitive science, human factors, human computer interaction, sociology, user experience design or related area.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Ability to work independently, when needed, as well as collaborate with a cross-functional team

  • Ability to work with brand and design guidelines

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding storytelling and presentation skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail
