_POSITION SUMMARY:_ The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of hospital equipment and building components. Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic III will diagnose problems, offer solutions, and act to ensure the safety, care, and comfort of staff and patients. Sets an example in professionalism and workmanship.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David’s Medical Center.
Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and testing. An ability to communicate information in clear concise terms is required.
Minimum five years experience in a maintenance or construction field.
Hospital experience preferred. _ _ _EXPERIENCE:_
GENERAL: Five years experience relevant experience in a large commercial industrial or health care facility, general and structural maintenance, modification, renovation and interior construction. Provides in-service Environmental Maintenance and Building Repair Training to assigned Maintenance Mechanics.
ELECTRICIAN: Five years experience relevant experience in a large commercial industrial or health care facility. Possession of a Journeyman or Master Electrician License issued in Texas is mandatory. A City of Austin "Restricted Maintenance Master Electrician" license is desirable.
HVAC: Five years experience in mechanical systems maintenance, modification and renovation in a large medical center, office complex, industrial facility or hotel is required. Possession of a valid Texas Class A or B, Air Conditioning License, and/or appropriate EPA Freon Refrigerant Certificate are preferred. Prior experience with Siemens or other proprietary building automation/energy management systems is desirable.
PLANT OPERATOR: Five years experience in operation of a large central utility plant with gas fired boilers, diesel generators, vacuum pumps, bottled/bulk gases, and electrical centrifugal chillers.
Required: Required-High School education or equivalent required.
Preferred: Degree from trade or technical school.
Associates degree in HV/AC, Electrical, Plant Operations or Maintenance related field.
Preferred: Licensed or certified in HV/AC, Electrical, Plant Operations or Maintenance field.
