Role & Responsibility Summary:
The Product Marketing Manager at IBM marries deep customer, competitive and market understanding with in-depth product knowledge to develop and execute omni-channel go-to-market programs that deliver on business objectives.
As a champion in the market, you will help drive our Db2 value proposition and gain insights that enable you to contribute to our broader go-to-market strategy. You will be client centric, data driven and agile to the core to deliver optimal business outcomes. Attention to detail and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits is crucial.
You will be responsible for the external positioning of our Db2 database products, working across the marketing team on content as well as inbound and outbound marketing activities. In this role, you will develop strategic marketing plans for Db2 through market research, competitive analysis, customer engagement, and business planning. Working closely with product management and sales you will help evolve the market facing messaging and positioning. You will assist in conceiving and developing creative marketing programs that drive demand and sales results.
The ideal candidate will be passionate, curious, always learning, love engaging a wide range of stakeholders, creative and willing to take risks and try new things. You will be viewed as the marketing leader for the product line, working across marketing functions, product management and sales as a strategic partner and guiding the marketing strategy and plan.
Develop product positioning, value propositions and messaging that resonate with the buying audience and produce the source messaging blueprint
Responsible to drive marketing contributed pipeline and win revenue for Db2 business
Create collateral, whitepapers, presentations, videos, and blog posts, to communicate the value proposition of our products.
Plan the market launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan.
Work with sales and marketing teams to broadcast our message to the market, across the organization, and our partner community.
Be the expert on our buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on our competition and how to beat them.
Support the strategy and programs that create interest across all market segments.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade shows, webinars, on social media, and as a spokesperson for anal Conduct market and customer research to gather data and insight about target personas, buyer needs and the purchasing decision process for our products, including key buyer roles.
Work with campaign team to translate the marketing plans to effective campaign strategies that drive sales opportunities
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
8+ years marketing experience.
MBA degree or Bachelors degree plus relevant experience in marketing, business, communications, or related field.
Strong overall understanding of the key areas of marketing: product marketing, content marketing, demand generation, and digital marketing
B2B marketing experience.
Strong written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to closely collaborate as a part of a team comprised of business, creative and technical types.
Strong project manager with the ability to meet expectations on time and on budget.
Proficiency in all MS Office applications required.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Prior experience with IT solutions, data management solutions a plus.
5+ years product marketing experience.
Proven success in creating value propositions and messaging strategies.
Experience working in a highly matrixed global organization.
Experience driving awareness through owned, earned, and paid channels
