POSITION SUMMARY Retrieves, cleans, decontaminates, issues, and tracks departmental equipment within the hospital. Prepares packages, and autoclave items in accordance with standard policies and practices. Prepares and issues stock in accordance with the department. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

/GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ * Patient Care o The technician is responsible for processing and supply of sterile goods and equipment to all areas within the hospital; including decontamination, cleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distribution.
o The technician is responsible for maintaining appropriate supplies used in the process of sterilizing items for use in the hospital and any other institution or organization deemed appropriate by the administrative staff.
o The technician is responsible for reporting any supply not readily available for replenishment by notifying the Team Leader of that department.
o The technician is responsible for distributing needed supplies or equipment through the hospital and any other institution or organization deemed appropriate by the administrative staff.
o The technician is responsible for following all departmental policies and procedures regarding the distribution of supplies and equipment throughout the hospital.
o The technician will be responsible for keeping the department fully stocked with appropriate supplies for operating the department.
o The technician is responsible for keeping their work area clean and the department organized.
o The technician needs to be competent in aseptic technique. o The technician will help in setup and case organization.
o The technician will be responsible for maintaining and documenting all biological testing and report any abnormal reading to Team Leader.
o Performs Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. Documents required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards. * Staff/Unit Responsibilities o Uses resources in an efficient and cost effective manner.

o Attends 80% of in-services and departmental meetings.

*_EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE_* Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Previous experience in a hospital sterile processing department.

_LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES_ Required: Certification in sterile processing required upon hire
