Job Summary

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the direction and management of assigned projects and contracts

  • Establishes and builds professional relationships with Clients, other Consultants and Contractors

  • Performs as a key member of the Universities Project Delivery Team and will be actively involved in all aspects of planning, procurement, design, and construction of the project

  • Performs services related to the occupancy and post-occupancy phases of the project including but not limited to the relocation of faculty, students and other academic personnel

  • Provides detailed reviews, analysis and recommendations regarding the performance of Architects, Engineers, General Contractor and other consultants in meeting Owner’s objectives.

  • Fosters a spirit of collaboration and maintain a high degree of professionalism with the entire Project Delivery Team while building mutual trust

  • Responsible for directing, organizing, and controlling project activities, under the direction of the Director of Facilities, Maintenance & Project Control

  • Oversees projects costs and makes sure they are well managed, monitors profit and cost sheets for each project, and ascertains that payment collections are performed efficiently and timely from a project management point of view

  • Manages the coordination, interface and interactions with internal disciplines within AECOM and with 3rd parties in relations to Technical, Financial, Safety, Quality, and other elements of a project, to ensure successful execution of the PgM scope of services

  • Responsible for all contract activities and performance metrics to meet construction project goals & objectives

  • Responsible for compliance with corporate safety requirements

  • Oversees Change Management and Risk Management on the project for construction phase

  • Represents AECOM with the Client during the project execution, developing briefings, leading negotiations for changes to the scope of work, developing collaboration strategies with consultants and contractors, managing procurement strategies and appointment of contractors. Responsible for following up on instructions & comments associated with the project

  • Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule

  • Coordinates all close-out, punchlist and move-in activities with the project stakeholders

  • Supports the PgM team through the post-construction Phase

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibilities related to construction management and/or program management for higher education projects

  • Multi-project management and execution experience is required

  • Strong negotiation and time management skills

  • Extensive experience in the college & university environment from pre-development through construction and turnover to client

  • Experience managing design and construction subconsultants including demonstrated ability to take ownership responsibility

  • This position is for a strong “doer-seller” with excellent organizational, planning, communication and relationship building skills

  • Experience in coordinating the work of various consultants and facilitate AECOM staff participation and other support resources

  • Manage cross-departmental projects that have high strategic importance to the business

  • Develop and drive a culture of project management and accountability for projects of high value

  • Integrate the use of continuous improvement techniques (LEAN) into projects as opportunities arise

  • Utilize industry accepted tools and techniques for managing projects to completion

  • Assist senior leadership in development of strategic projects and in execution of them

  • Proficient in the use of MS Project and MS Office Suite

  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills

  • Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including many departments within the business

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from an Owners

  • Perspective – ie. Real Estate, Facilities, Capital Planning, Design & Construction

  • Familiarity with ASHRAE Standards
