Business Unit Introduction:
IBM GTS Labs is the technology labs for the largest business of IBM - Global Technology Services (GTS). Its mission is to transform GTS through software development and continuous delivery, establishing a User-centric Secure DevOps framework for GTS, developing and deploying advanced automation, creating and enhancing many service offerings, transforming clients with hybrid cloud, analytics, and cognitive capabilities, and building the IBM Services Platform with Watson. Who you are:
You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline, architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.
You are an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.
What You will do:
As a Data Architect, you will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
Self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.
You will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
12 + years of relevant years of experience in data engineering
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
Experience building and optimizing ‘Big Data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘Big Data’ data stores.
Big Data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
Relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra.
Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
Stream-Processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
Ability to present statistical results to lay persons in an easy to understand way.
Proven communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience developing and testing Machine Learning and/or statistical projects.
