Reports To: Lead Network Engineer
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time, Regular
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring all server teamwork is completed in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Build, manage and upgrade network servers, including Windows 2008/2012 servers
Support specialized software for Navy, Marine Corps, and overall Command job functions
Management of a Windows Active Directory environment and all applications required to run in this environment including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, Maximo and Configuration Management
Perform systems management, performance and monitoring of networks
Develop and maintain system documentation regarding physical topology, equipment, environment and/or software
Use computerized ticketing systems to tract activities
Anticipate problems and opportunities, and address them appropriately and effectively
Perform continuous review of program performance results and interface with client to address status, operational issues, and metrics in a timely manner
Ensure work is executed in accordance with company practices, values and client specifications
Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
Provide occasional on-call support after normal business hours
Employ customer service skills, able to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects
Manage various departmental and organizational projects, including developing, researching, recommending, executing, and documenting processes for information systems
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify problems/issues and determine contingency plans
Track project milestones and deliverables
Recommend, develop, and execute policies to align with DoD and DoN STIGs and regulations
Develop plans and supports ad hoc IT initiatives
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
High School Diploma/GED required.
7 years of relevant experience
3 years Microsoft Active Directory administration experience
Experience with the following:
Implementing new Windows-based technologies
Personal computers and with MS Office Software Suite
System administration in enterprise-class Windows server environments.
Common Windows infrastructure components such as antivirus, file services, print services, Share Point, SQL Server, and Exchange
Microsoft certification, MCSE or equivalent
Secret security clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques involved in help desk operations, support technician operations, and Active Directory
Knowledge of common Windows infrastructure components such as antivirus, file services, print services, Share Point, SQL Server, and Exchange
Knowledge of and ability to use and install relevant hardware, software and other equipment
Proficiency in troubleshooting desktop operating systems and associated hardware/peripherals
Ability to work closely and cooperatively with fellow workers
Effective communication and time management

The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
