Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a number of creative, highly talented Archaeological Field Technician. The role will be based in Richmond Hill. These are on call positions, meaning work days and times will be determined on an as-needed basis, with an expectation of 40+ hours per week. Duration of the contracts are from now till December 21, 2018; overtime will be required at times.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Under the direction of experienced archaeologists, carry out Stage 2-4 archaeological field work

  • Perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork outside in all weather conditions

  • Identify artifacts and collect them in a controlled manner

  • Collaborate in a team environment

  • Ability to travel within Ontario for extended periods of time

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Physical strength, attention to detail and determination

  • One season of archaeological fieldwork or one year of artifact analysis will be an asset

  • Experience in outdoor physical labor

  • Willingness to travel to different project /work sites

  • Able to work out of town for prolonged periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of archaeological fieldwork and techniques

  • Artifact analysis and identification experience

  • Knowledge of the MTCS Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists
