Verizon Design Thinking Manager in Basking Ridge, New Jersey

What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Design and Innovation Manager is charged to execute Design projects with deep customer insight using Design thinking methodologies with goals to improve the customer experience, sustainability and profitability while creating an agile organization. They will work with local and business unit leaders to develop and execute design process and methodologies as well as designing products, services and solutions.

  • Leading Design projects and programs with business team participation. Drive design thinking in everything we do.

  • Understanding customers or users deeply: Develop or work from user profiles, conduct task analysis, create user scenarios or user stories, create and analyze user research.

  • Creating human centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings. This includes journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, and detailed UX design specifications.

  • Planning, supporting and providing coaching to others in the design and innovation methodology, including executives, project champions, general management, Lean Six Sigma Black Belts and Lean Six Sigma Green Belts and design team members

  • Providing guidance as a resource to champions, functional departments, and business units in identifying, planning and implementing Design projects that will provide optimum benefits resulting in significant business improvement

  • Providing analytical and design efforts on key projects to improve revenue, market penetration, share of the wallet, quality, reduce cost and improve cycle time and improving financials using design thinking, customer journey and insights.

  • Connecting design requirements to strategic business needs as well as customer needs.

  • Driving Innovation Boot camps for Ideation and concept designs.

  • Providing management with project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key, process focused objectives.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four of more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Six or more years of design experience.

  • Experience leading a team.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, engineering, business or technical discipline.

  • Master's degree or MBA.

  • Ten or more years of design experience.

  • Certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Skills in design process, design thinking, customer journey and insights, minimum viable product development, Agile development and innovations tools and frameworks.

  • Skills in human-centered design, visual design, front-end development, UX design and user experience best practices.

  • Experience creating user personas or profiles, user scenarios, detailed wireframes, and rapid prototyping.

  • Experience with user techniques including ethnography, observation, interviews, and focus groups.

  • Excellent presentation skills with solid verbal and written communication capabilities.

  • A Change leader with the ability to work cross-functionally with leaders on sensitive issues.

  • Project management and team work skills with a reputation as a leader of change.

  • Broad strategic thinking with a clear vision and direction of world class change management.

  • Self-starter and performance driven.
