Verizon Manager, Employee Communications in Basking Ridge, New Jersey
What you’ll be doing...
As Manager – Internal & External Communications, you will be responsible for driving employee storytelling for Verizon’s Business Group.In this role, you will help to advance the business by proactively executing a strategy that drives engagement, exposure and thought leadership with employees and key external influencers, media and bloggers. You’ll be responsible for promoting Verizon’s network, business products and solutions, and emerging technology leadership in 5G, Internet of Things and strategic fiber deployment, and explaining why these matter to our key stakeholders – employees, customers, shareholders and society. You’ll also be responsible for unearthing, and telling stories about the activities our employees undertake every day outside their day job to enhance our culture.Your focus will be internal and external communications, with the flexibility to support other areas of our business as needed.
Identify and tell compelling stories about Verizon Business Group to help educate and inspire employees, and enhance our culture.
Translate complex company initiatives into digestible, short content that ties back to the Verizon Business Group and larger Verizon strategy and initiatives.
Deploy best practices in story creation to tell our leadership story and highlight successes via our Up To Speed and Inside Verizon series and on VZWeb, and other vehicles as appropriate (eg webcasts, meetings in a box), and that can also be extended to Verizon’s social platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
Develop, manage, and execute communications plans that inform our employees and other stakeholders or our industry leadership in the growth and deployment of emerging technologies, ecosystem development, strategic partnerships and emerging business opportunities.
Manage day-to-day communications logistics.
Support the team as it delivers communications counsel, strategy and support to line of business leads and their teams for marketing of products and services, branding, reputation management, and crisis communications.
Have the ability to write product and customer news, media pitches, customer, and partner initiatives.
Interact and work collaboratively with cross-functional employee communications/PR/marketing groups, sales, and operations teams.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Six or more years of experience of internal communications, PR agency, or corporate communications experience or related field; significant digital storytelling experience.
Experience working with all levels of management, including senior executives.
Experience developing highly creative campaigns.
Project and program management experience
Experience creating short videos.
Even better if you have:
A bachelor’s degree.
Experience developing highly creative campaigns with a keen eye toward uncovering new opportunities.
Knowledge of large, global enterprises and/or the small-medium business space. technologies, including 5G, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and location-based services.
Experience in using video as a messaging platform, including ideation, scripting and storyboarding, production and post-production advising.
Diverse background, cultural competency, and a broad global-view are all assets in working in our dynamic, multicultural marketplace
Ability to understand why technology matters for customers and tell that story.
Ability to plan and execute complex projects both autonomously and collaboratively.
Highly creative with superior verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, decision making and analytical abilities.
Ability to work quickly and effectively while maintaining great flexibility and accuracy.
Adept with generating creative concepts, overseeing production and editing.
Comfortable being on camera for internal and external spokesperson opportunities.
Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
Fluency in Spanish or other non-English language.
Willingness to travel.
