Hill-Rom Manager II R&D - Systems/Verification & Validation in Batesville, Indiana

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing daily operational activities for R&D Systems and V&V engineering. Manages team of Systems and V&V engineering resources. Is accountable for alignment of priorities and resources with business direction, timeline and budget commitments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess resource(s) or team strengths and weaknesses and develop plans to achieve individual/team/department goals and objectives.

  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate department/function.

  • Allocate resources and time required to conduct several research projects and monitor the performance of these projects to ensure milestones are met.

  • Uses real-time data and key business metrics to reassess priorities and realign goals.

  • Own key processes associated with Systems and V&V engineering, including risk management.

  • Implements latest system engineering methodologies.

  • Solid understanding of design controls and risk management (EN ISO 14971:2012.)

  • Experience with conducting validation activities and design verification activities.

  • Great written and oral communication skills and experience writing test scripts, protocols, and reports.

  • Demonstrates expert judgment in selection methods and statistical techniques to obtain results.

  • Strong Interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment

  • May have budget responsibilities.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 7 years of applicable experience

UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Understanding of team contribution to larger organization and impact on business strategy.

  • Ability to successfully and consistently manage people-related processes i.e. performance management, compensation, talent development, talent acquisition, onboarding, etc.

  • Excellent analytical and creative thinking, with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to identify and champion new technologies.

  • Understanding of all relevant standards to support medical device product development.
