IBM Senior Instructional Designer in BATON ROUGE, Louisiana

Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Client Innovation Center in Baton Rouge is looking for Senior Learning Experience Designers. This role is responsible for leading the overall direction and design of education content to meet the business requirements while adhering to standards and guidelines. In addition, this position will need to demonstrate their ability to:

  • Conduct the appropriate Front-End analysis for a project and determine whether training is the appropriate solution.

  • Select the appropriate media and instructional strategies to facilitate learning.

  • Create design briefs articulating the overall learning approach, module/lesson outline, learning objectives, instructional strategies, delivery media, opportunities for practice, reinforcement, and assessment methods.

  • Effectively use multimedia, such as video and animation, to enhance learner engagement and learning effectiveness.

  • Craft a story and use storytelling to deliver learning that increases learner's attention and enhances learning retention.

  • Create scenarios to enhance learning effectiveness by providing learners opportunities to make decisions/take actions resulting in different outcomes in a near real time environment.

  • Design creative infographics to deliver/support learning.

  • Conduct user research and derive insights that help design better learning solutions for the target end users.

  • Understand and leverage user experience design principles to learning design to enhance learner engagement, learning effectiveness, and delivery.

In addition, ideal candidates will have the following experience:

  • Substantial experience working as a designer, writer, or producer (ideally 10+ years).

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Distance Learning, Organizational Development, Human Resources Development, Communications, Graphic Design, Writing or other related area.

  • Deep, applied understanding of adult learning theory.

  • At least 3 years experience in leading teams.

  • At least 3 years experience working in a consulting/business services environment.

  • Experience designing learning solutions, including simulations, for conferences, face-to-face classroom, connected classroom, virtual classroom, or asynchronous digital learning environments.

An online portfolio of work samples is required for consideration.

Successful candidates for these positions will work onsite at the IBM Client Innovation Center in Baton Rouge. The IBM Client Innovation Center is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our Baton Rouge center. However, some travel is expected and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs across the US. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site (Monday thru Friday). You are expected to travel up to 50% of the time. This is a traditional office position. You must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Louisiana. The work location is 100 North Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802. This is not a work from home position.

  • At least 6 years experience relevant experience
