You will be part of the Health Sciences DevOps software engineering team designing and implementing cloud automation software for the management of Health Sciences products. In your role you will provide technical leadership on existing and evolving Cloud software development and automation tools and patterns. You will be part of a team focused on identifying new opportunities to leverage technology to solve cloud automation challenges

Responsibilities and Qualifications

We are seeking a Cloud software senior engineer who has been integrally involved in cloud development, automation and DevOps. You have practical hands-on experience in software automation engineering as well as providing technical DevOps leadership. In this role you will work closely with product software developers, cloud infrastructure and application management services to deliver Cloud software automation solutions for Oracle’s Health Sciences business unit ensuring that the cloud services can operate at scale.



  • Chef or puppet automation coding experience required

  • Experience coding in Ruby as well as other scripting languages e.g. VBS, CMD, Python

  • Experience with automated deployments and source code / configuration management tools - GitHub, Chef Server, Hudson, etc.

  • Solid understanding of UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Knowledge of relational database engines

  • Experience leading the design, automation and production support of cloud distributed solutions

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, master’s degree preferred


  • A comprehensive understanding of the nature of the cloud, its scale and the imperative to automate all aspects of the deployment and support lifecycle

  • Experience documenting technical requirements as well as creating Installation Qualifications outlining steps to deploy automation solution

  • Experience working in a large enterprise IT organization implementing complex solutions, preferably cloud services

  • Knowledge of Health Sciences clinical trial and data management solutions

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
