Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned DevOps Security Engineer to join our efforts in reshaping the cloud services landscape across industry verticals and solve difficult problems by designing and building innovative new systems to revolutionize the delivery of Cloud Services to the world’s most critical organizations. The SaaS Cloud Security organization is responsible for securing enterprise-grade software services on behalf of our 25,000 customers, processing over 60 billion transactions per day.

As a DevOps Security Engineer and a member of the SaaS Cloud Operations organization you will design, develop, and support applications and solutions that secure Oracle’s cloud services. You will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for the design and influence of not only applications, but also the tools and processes that make up the development organization. You will work closely with team members to solve day to day problems, create utilities and applications, and create a security platform of tools that benefits all of Oracle’s SaaS offerings. You need to be well versed in every part of the software development process including source code management, artifact deployment, package management, continuous integration, build and test automation, application deployment, and application monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

  • You will be actively participating in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures

  • You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

  • Leading contributor individually and as a team member

  • You will work closely with your partners and peers to assist in driving security innovation and world class security solutions to internal and external customers.

  • You will influence and assist in new security solutions, security processes, security standards to support hyper-scale SaaS growth.

  • You will actively participate in the security community at large and will drive collaboration with other security teams, both in and outside of Oracle

Ideal Experience

  • Technical understanding and demonstrable experience of cloud engineering specifically in the development of applications and solutions that provide security controls.

  • 6 years of application development

  • Deep technical understanding of security threat detection, response and operational best practices.

  • Strong and hands-on experience/knowledge in the following areas:

  • Programming in Java, Python, Go, Ruby

  • Development tools, language features and library availability

  • Automation deployment and configuration management tools

  • Oracle Linux, Redhat, or CentOS platforms

  • Git, SVN, or similar version control experience

  • SQL schema design experience with MySQL, Oracle, or Postgres

  • Agile and waterfall project methodologies

  • TCP/IP networking and related protocols

  • Problem solving skills to learn new technical and non-technical analysis techniques to overcome problems.

  • Ability to identify and implement both tactical and strategic solutions.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google cloud services.

  • Ability to work independently and engage individuals and teams located across multiple geographies and or cultures.

  • Strong written and verbal communications and presentation skills.

Preferred Education

Advanced degree in computer science or related field.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
