Verizon Wireless Senior Translations Engineer in Bellevue, Washington
What you’ll be doing...
Responsible for translations support for the deployment of national products.
Focal point for identifying and documenting translation related issues.
Accumulate and compile translation information that is targeted for standardization and maintain data in a centralized database.
Support the development of translations related platforms and perform administrative functions for these platforms
Facilitate communication between regions, HQ organizations, Vendors, resellers and various marketing departments.
Act as subject matter experts in switch translations and support Area Translations Engineers with their functions and duties.
Troubleshoot translations related issues and prescribe corrective action/update standards.
Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of all voice call processing and related platforms, including VoIP networks.
Develop standards and processes for VoIP networks (NNI, Peering, VoLTE, etc).
Interface with Product development, IMS engineering, Maintenance Engineering, VoLTE development, and other internal teams to influence translation design.
Actively identify opportunities to improve Verizon Wireless and act when appropriate. Proactively identify and solves problems.
Act quickly to meet customer and team member needs, presenting recommendations, rather than problems, to management
Coach and train other team members for improved work performance.
Build relationships which enhance both individual and company interests.
Consider the customer and Verizon Wireless’ Vision, Goals, and Values when solving problems and making decisions. Foresee problems and opportunities by rising above day-to-day activities to anticipate future trends
What we’re looking for...
BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
CCNA or CCNP strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of voice Translations in multiple elements (Nortel, Motorola, Nortel, ACME, Tekelek…) and multiple protocols (SS7, IS41, ISUP, ITUI, SIP, Diameter/ Radius…)
Strong knowledge of Voice networking.
Experience and proficiency of Translations and Call Flow knowledge of the following Network Elements and Tools:
Ribbon (Sonus) SBC/SR product lines
Lucent ECP/5E and iHLR
Ericsson MTX/VSE Core (Knowledge of DCAs a plus)
Samsung WSS (Ubicell Network Extender)
Technical Document and MOP Writing Skills
Access7, SANE, Brix, and Irisview
ACME SR/SBC databases
IMS/VoLTE call flows
IMS Core Elements Databases (S-CSCF, TAS)
Experience with wireless services including SMS, CDMA/TDMA/GSM/LTE/IMS data, 3G/4G data, RBT, PrePaid, Broadsoft, Voicemail, LBS, WIN and WLNP.
Project management experience required, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Ability to operate well under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
Adaptive to change, open to different viewpoints, ability to innovate.
Strong interpersonal skills in an environment that requires a team effort across department.
High level of accountability, ownership and sense of urgency.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance.
Ability to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
Overnight travel may be required.
