IBM EXTREME BLUE Internship: Advanced Analytics on Knowledge Graphs in BERLIN, Germany

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this Extreme Blue Project the students will work together with IBM consultants and industry domain experts to develop an AI-powered analytics solution for complex risk analysis in the insurance industry.

In the era of Machine Learning and Cognitive Computing more and more systems are capable of extracting insights from unstructured data such as texts, images and videos. These systems have great potential for the insurance industry, which processes huge amounts of text data on a daily basis and for which accurate risk management is of fundamental importance. One of the key success factors for a precise risk management is a good contextual understanding of the underlying domain and all data available.

In this project we will build an AI-powered solution that supports experts from the medical domain and the insurance industry to derive new insights from their data and achieve a better assessment of risk factors in their portfolio. Medical concepts which have been extracted from a large corpora of medical texts are aggregated in multiple interconnected knowledge graphs. The solution will use state of the art analytics, reasoning and machine learning algorithms to infer new relationships and correlations in the underlying data.

With this solution we will bring Cognitive Computing to a new and future-oriented application and support customers in extending their business analysis to unstructured data.

On mutual interest, after the internship we offer to support writing a thesis (primarily MSc) in cooperation with us.
