What will you do as an IBM GBS Entry-level Architect/Developer?

As an Architect/Developer, you will help design, develop, and integrate solutions using best practice technologies, tools, techniques, and products our clients demand today. Projects you could be working on relate to Cloud management services, Internet of Things, Mobile development and testing, enterprise application development and maintenance, and Artificial Intelligence.

What do we look for in a successful IBM GBS Entry-level Architect/Developer ?

  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 is a preferred qualification of this position

  • Demonstrated programming proficiency and experience with 1 of the following (Angular, C++, Hadoop, HTML, Java, R, Scala, SAS, Spring Boot, SQL, SPSS, Spark, Tableau, Node React, Python, VBA), as well as systems design/development, and information technology course work

  • Exposure to CRISP methodology for data science

  • Experience in data wrangling and model management

  • Sound understanding of basic statistics and optimization (deterministic/stochastic)

  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications

Highly Desired skills & experience:

  • Experience and/or course work in front-end web development and mobile technologies

  • Exposure to web services, API (e.g. Watson Dev Cloud, Linkedin / Yelp / TWC) and multiple Java application frameworks

  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

  • Experience in following a structured methodology

  • Experience in design, user story development and requirements gathering

  • Experience with database structures and design, and different data types (unstructured, structured, geospatial)

  • Previous internship(s) focused on software development

Preferred Majors/Degrees:

Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems or Computer Engineering (if demonstrated strong current language programming experience)

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 4 days a week (home on weekends – based on project requirements) but up to 100% if required.

  • Reside within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 20 miles or less) of one of the following cities or willingness to relocate to: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York, or San Francisco.
