TheSafety and Compliance Managershall be responsible for the planning, scheduling and conducting Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and sedan operator and candidate safety training. TheSafety and Compliance Managershall also plan and implement vehicle safety and accident prevention programs and work with Human Resources to ensure compliance with district and federal policies and procedures. In addition, shall coordinate maintenance and repair of Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan equipment to meet DOT and OEM requirements and ensure fully operational and safe equipment for the movement of personnel.

  • Schedules initial and remedial safety training programs for Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and

Sedan operators by the curriculum developed by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

  • Assists in planning in-service programs for Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan operators to assure renewal of annual state and city certifications.

  • In coordination with the DOT, Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Commission (WMATC), facilitates and supervises operator training activities performed by Chenega Tri-Services, LLC (CTS) and other states and jurisdiction.

  • Plans and supervises safe driving and safe working methods and training procedures as specifically required.

  • Conducts and assists in classroom training for new Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan operators.

  • Assist in the selection, interview, and evaluation of potential Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan operators.

  • Coordinates initial drug and alcohol screening of potential and current Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan operators with HR.

  • Conduct new employee orientation for all new Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan operators.

  • Evaluates employee(s) operator qualifications as requested to determine proficiency.

  • Operate buses of varying sizes and complexity over designated routes by time schedules, as needed.

  • Conduct field investigations of vehicular accidents involving CTS vehicles as requested;

  • participate as a member of the Incident Review Committee.

  • Maintain confidential, complete and accurate records and statistics for all CTS vehicle accidents.

  • Maintain all operator records and provide statistical analyses as required.

  • Maintain all Driver Qualification Files (DQ) kept by CTS as required by the DOT.

  • Represent CTS at all job fair and recruiting opportunities for potential Motor Coach, Shuttle

Bus and Sedan operators.

  • Conduct random operator safety checks including, but not limited to, driver's license spot checks, DOT medical examination card expiration and training hours required for the renewal of any necessary operator certification; prepare any required reports.

  • Work closely with drug testing facility physicians to ensure DOT regulations are met for all operators.

  • Conduct monthly audits for DOT Physical and License renewals.

  • Provide annual audit reports to the Company and DOT.

  • Plans, schedules and supervises physical agility screenings of all operators.

  • File Insurance paperwork as required for all operator accidents. After investigations are complete, recover funds due from other insurance carriers.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all operator safety training conducted within CTS.

  • Maintains compliance with the DOT regulations regarding employment screenings and recommendations.

  • Coordinate random Drug and Alcohol Testing per federal regulations in compliance with

  • DOT approved physicians.

  • Maintains mechanical files.

  • Schedule mechanical service for contract service vehicles.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties as the project manager in their absence

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business operations with specific emphasis on transportation services.

  • Must possess and maintain a current Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the application of the Department of Transportation to passenger services

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in the operation of Motor Coach, Shuttle Bus and Sedan in the movement of personnel

  • Knowledge of DOT requirements for the operation of personnel movement

  • The ability to evaluate and train personnel in the movement of passengers for transit service operations

  • The ability to communicate effectively in English
