Pearson, the world’s leading education company, is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Sr. Product Manager for the Education market portfolio. Under guidance from the Director, Education Portfolio Management and Delivery, the successful candidate will provide strong leadership in managing key education assessment product solutions.

This role will participate in defining and executing the product solution delivery strategy, and will work with Sales and Marketing to drive successful, measurable commercialization and marketing efforts. Excellent communication skills are required as the candidate must effectively interact with internal (product development, software, R&D, and sales groups) and external stakeholders and customers, such as school-, district-, and state-level administrators. Experience with assessment product management is a plus, as are strong analytic and communication skills, as you will need to clearly articulate complex concepts, features, and benefits to customers, partners, prospects and internal teams.

The Sr. Product Manager will bring a customer-centric perspective in identifying, creating and bringing assessment product solutions to market and is a key contributor to the long-term vision and strategy of the Education Portfolio.

This position will report to the Director, Education Portfolio Management and Delivery, and will be ideally based in either our Bloomington, MN or San Antonio, TX offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collects and synthesizes market trends, competitive information and other market data to ensure product and service offerings drive strategic goals, meet market needs and financial targets, and achieve growth objectives for the assigned assessment product solution(s) in the Education market.

  • Identifies assessment product solution opportunities for market segments and presents opportunities for further investigation and development in regular investment or business review meetings.

  • Develops commercially successful assessment solutions (including software, digital, print and professional development offerings) which deliver real value for general and special educators

  • Works closely with sales and marketing teams to develop and/or refine Customer Value Propositions and competitive positioning for key assessment product solutions.

  • Works with development and user experience teams to create products which deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Participates in cross-functional teams from across the business to deliver assessment product solutions on time, to desired quality and to budget.

  • In partnership with sales and finance, provides proper forecasting, budgeting and delivery to financial targets and ROI realization for assigned assessment product solutions in the education market portfolio.

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship(s) of authors and consultants within the designated assessment product solution(s).


  • BA/BS in Business or related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • MBA preferred.

  • At least 5 years of product management experience.

  • Experience in education market, assessment product solutions and digital solutions desired.

  • Strong communication skills – able to distill complex ideas and deliver them to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholder groups.

  • Ability to participate effectively and build consensus on a cross-functional team.

  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.

  • Proven effectiveness with budgeting, project approval and production processes.

  • Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple projects in different stages of exploration and development.

  • Ability to travel 10-20% based on need.
