Summary of Position
The Philanthropic Practice Associate (PPA) will provide research and support to the Philanthropic and Family Office Leadership team. The PPA will assist in the process of thought leadership research projects, management and retention of external partnerships and sponsorships, and conduct ad hoc research to support the delivery of sales and consulting services to a team of national consultants/advisors working with institutional and private philanthropic clients across US Trust and Merrill Lynch.
Support ongoing research studies and projects in Philanthropic and Family Office subject areas by facilitating and coordinating data collection processes and data validation.
Assist in managing external industry partnerships to drive deeper and more effective collaboration.
Work with local ICAs and ISDs to coordinate use of research findings to drive sales process and opportunities.
Use various databases available to research and identify potential/current opportunities, including identification of trustees, board members, nonprofit affiliations, investment policies, etc.
Helps support sales and business development activities for both UST and ML channels, by answering questions on specific research processes.
Help manage and coordinate an efficient and effective process for conference attendance, including coordinating of attendees, strategy, timelines and level of engagement.
Support the creation of new consulting materials using research study findings.
Support senior leadership responsible for nonprofit, private philanthropy, family office research, fact and trend finding
Drive the standardization and the institutionalization of the external sponsorship process – includes documentation of engagement, objectives and timeline.
Ad hoc research or sales support projects as needed.

Expert ability level in MS PowerPoint and Excel
5+ years of successful experience in market research or sales/sales support.
Previous involvement with research studies, a plus
Philanthropy and/or family office industry background & knowledge.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Math, Marketing, or related field.
Knowledge of investment management, specifically in nonprofit sector, a plus.
