AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and motivated Senior Project Manager for immediate employment in our Boston, Massachusetts office. This position will entail a project leadership and new business role in the Northeast US and beyond. The position is considered to be a “seller-doer” function. AECOM is proud to offer potential candidates exciting, challenging projects. This position is focused on the management and leadership of transportation projects such as airport terminals and rail stations, but may include a wider range of building types as might be available. The successful candidate will play a lead role in our design studio activities and will be responsible for project management, client interface, business development and proposal preparation, mentoring less experienced staff, and advancing and strengthening our management approach, design quality and overall design team capability.
The successful candidate(s) will join a vibrant team of design professionals and will play a meaningful role as a member of an integrated design team. Excellent management, leadership, project pursuits, verbal and visual communication skills are required as demonstrated through the candidate’s portfolio and an interview. The successful candidate will be a driver of good design, and will lead the preparation of designs working closely and strategically with clients, senior and executive management, subconsultants and Designers, Architects, Project Managers and Design Principals. The Senior Project Manager will focus on establishing broad project strategies, resourcing and project performance goals. Senior Project Managers are expected to independently contribute to, organize and execute the goals of AECOM as required.
The general responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager include:
Reconciles the goals and priorities of AECOM with those of our clients while fostering opportunities for design and technical excellence
Manages projects towards profitability, monitors and documents project process while protecting AECOM from financial and legal risk
Contributes to AECOM’s leadership by enabling clear communications among team leaders, consultants and clients while promoting
professional relationships internally and externally
Prepares contracts and agreements in conjunction with a Project Director
Serves as primary contact with clients and sub-consultants
Bachelor's degree in related field
10+ years of experience
Must be a licensed Architect in the State of Massachusetts.
Experience in the design of transportation buildings such as airport and/or rail passenger terminals
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of architectural design, drafting, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques and costs
Proven knowledge of general architecture practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering
Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of employees, clients, consultants and vendors
Proven ability in problem identification, problem solving and conflict resolution
Must be comfortable working in a high energy environment with frequent overlapping and conflicting deadlines
Must be comfortable working with professionals of all disciplines
This position may require frequent travel in the U.S. and possibly the occasional trip abroad
The candidate should have some experience working with the transportation agencies in the region
The candidate must be proficient in the following programs:
Adobe Creative Suite
General Familiarity with Project Management Software
- LEED Certification is a plus
It would be outstanding if the candidate was familiar with the management aspects of:
Other visualization tools such as Lumion, Enscape and/or other similar VDC and rendering software
