The Early Discovery organization seeks an outstanding candidate to join our Immunology Discovery team at our organization in Boston. You will work in team that supports early development of novel therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory disease indications. You will have hands-on expertise and deep knowledge in immunology (adaptive, innate or mucosal), autoimmunity, immunosenescence, or inflammation. You will also have expertise on computational biology, gene regulation networks, and R programming environment, You will be responsible for validating novel Immunology targets to advance to small and large molecule drug discovery programs to clinical candidates. Your responsibilities will include the development and execution of experimental strategies to define biomarkers, mechanism of action and mechanism of resistance to therapeutic agents. You will apply computational and statistical approaches to large data sets to solve biological problems that drive target identification and validation. You will be expected to keep abreast of published scientific literature and present his/her data at internal group meetings. The successful candidate will be an individual contributor with deep scientific curiosity, excellent oral and written communication skills, work well independently and as part of a collaborative team, and be able to work on several projects simultaneously.

Required Education and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in biological sciences, with experience in the area of Immunology and Bioinformatics.

Required Skills:

  • Candidate must have expertise with multi-parameter flow cytometry, developing in vitro and in vivo assays to investigate immune function and possess a deep knowledge of technologies commonly used to assess immune endpoints

  • Candidate should have experience in primary immune cell isolation and stimulation, proliferation and apoptosis assays, immuno-assay techniques/platforms, as well as molecular biology

  • Candidate should have demonstrated experience working with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and data array analysis, R computing environment, and a broad range of bioinformatics software and algorithms

  • Strong problem solving, statistical, and mathematical skills

  • Strong track record of scientific publications

  • Excellent organization to multi - task and manage multiple projects

  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes in projects priorities and meet aggressive timelines

  • Committed to working in a collaborative manner across functional areas within a matrix organization

  • Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech industry preferred

  • Experience in pharmaceutical drug discovery in the areas of immunology, inflammation or autoimmunity

  • Software development skills and experience with machine learning techniques
