Position : Senior Software Engineer (JoinOCI-Edge)
Locations : Manchester NH, Cambridge MA, Burlington MA, or Remote
Reports to : Director of Engineering
The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a wide range of skills and experience, from strong understanding of the networking stack to building highly fault-tolerant services.
As an engineer, this individual should have the ability to understand complex problems and strike a good balance between business goals and technical implementations. This is a collaborative, fast-paced environment requiring strong communication and teamwork as well as the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. On a given day this position offers opportunities to develop new features, troubleshoot production, design and implement run time monitoring, testing, auditing or metrics gathering integration's.
Assist in the design, development and ongoing improvement of existing and new systems and architecture
Production runtime operations, monitoring and improvements of Integrated Services
Implement and support Oracle Dyn services and systems, including tooling and automation
Perform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering and support teams
Establish and maintain productive relationships with peer service teams
Participation in 24/7 on-call rotation
Other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated ability to deliver the items listed in the major duties section.
At least 5 years of operations engineering experience in SaaS Cloud or Hybrid Cloud Environments
At least 5 years’ experience with Linux operating systems.
Experience with containers and supporting orchestration systems. Docker, Kubernetes
Experience with coding in Java, Python, and or Go.
General knowledge of the following categories of network systems: Multiprocessing, Threading, Distributed systems, Load Balancing and High Availability.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groups.
Should be a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Creative thinking and critical analysis are essential.
Architectural, development, and operational capability of cross-datacenter / Cloud Services
Using configuration management tools like Docker, Terraform, Chef, Ansible, etc.
Knowledge of network architecture, Internet protocols and standards, specifically DNS

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
