IBM Technical Advisor Intern: Summer 2021 in Boston, Massachusetts

Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Technical Advisor team is a group of consultants that ensures IBM storage clients remain satisfied while being responsible for: Installation Assurance, Software Currency, Problem Prevention, Best Practices, and overall Client Advocacy. Doing so requires working with multiple teams within IBM. This provides a unique opportunity for data analysis, data manipulation, web development, executive level presentation development, and communication skills development. People in this role are innovators with the ability to assess operations and processes and to implement transformative change.

As a Technical Advisor Intern, will assist in providing day-to-day consulting to clients via telephone, Webex, and email with a high level of client satisfaction. This includes, but is not limited to, quality initiative tracking, FIP deck generation, creating presentations and developing W3 Publisher web pages. This position will be located in Tucson, AZ, Research Triangle Park, NC or Austin, TX.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Must be pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field.

• Strong communication skills

• Knowledge of data analysis and manipulation

• Active listening skills and the ability to ask probing questions

• Coachability

• Time management skills

• Skills in collaboration technologies such as Webex, Box, Slack, Trello, Mural, or equivalent

• Team collaboration skills

• Ability to develop soft skills working with other teams, clients, and peers

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of IBM Storage Hardware and/or Software technology

• Strong project management skills

• Ability to positively influence team operations to a desired set of objectives

• Experience working with clients and defusing tense situations

• Experience with developing executive level presentations

• Experience in Information Technologies

Knowledge / Practical Experience on IBM Storage Products, including deeper experience on DRP / HSM / GPFS / BA Client, Flash Copy Manager, Trace and Log File analysis, etc.

Understanding of Websphere, DB2, SAN and Tape drives are helpful. A general understanding with all well-established Operating Systems, like AIX, Windows, Linux, and their behavior with backend storage products are preferred.
