The Technical Sales Specialist, Process Chromatography Media is part of the commercial organization supporting the BioProduction Division portfolio which provides biotechnology and biopharmaceutical customers with integrated ​​solutions across the entire bioproduction workflow. Our technologies include:​Cell Culture; Cellular Medicine; Chromatography; Pharma Analytics; and ​Single Use Technologies.

Position Summary:

The Technical Sales Specialist, Process Chromatography Media role is responsible for selling Thermo Fisher’s POROS and CaptureSelect chromatography products in Massachusetts (Boston/Cambridge area). Maintain present customer base while actively developing new process opportunities to build strong pipeline of projects that will fuel future growth. Utilizes sales, product and territory knowledge to work independently in most situations. Responsible to meet sales quota as well as expense targets for assigned territory.

What will you do?

  1. Meets or exceeds assigned sales quota for POROS and CaptureSelect chromatography products by maintaining growth with existing customer base as well as actively searching for new business opportunities within territory.

  2. Travels to customer sites for sales calls and presentations.

  3. Participates in the seeding POROS and CaptureSelect chromatography products in new process accounts, while working closely with existing accounts to identify new process opportunities.

  4. Work closely with customers and product management to ensure that information and timing related to large production orders and product shipments is forecasted and communicated effectively.

  5. Maintains and enhances sales skills through technical and sales training. Updates territory contact list and yearly sales activity/business plan.

  6. Maintains and enhances technical knowledge on company’s chromatography product lines, company literature and competitive products through attendance and participation in trainings, tradeshows and scientific conferences, contact with technical specialists as well as self-study by reading trade journals, manuals and books.

  7. Provides sales territory information, forecasts, reports and data by telephone, written, or electronic communication with manager and product managers. Regularly creates/updates forecast and opportunities information, call reports, and expense reports.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree (B.S, M.A, PhD.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or Biology/Molecular Biology.

  • 5+ years of successful sales experience selling consumables and /or instrumentation into the biopharmaceutical marketplace.

  • Demonstrated excellence in sales skills, territory and account management, and behavioral skills necessary to thrive in a selling environment (drive, commitment to task, outstanding teamwork, ability to work independently, etc.).

  • Sales of bulk chromatography media, filtration or consumables products related to the manufacturing of bio-therapeutics is preferred. Deep understanding of chromatography, including strong understanding of downstream purification in process development, is strongly preferred.

  • Approximately 20-30% travel required
