Thermo Fisher Scientific Product Quality Engineer II in Bothell, Washington
Lead and contribute to continual improvement of product quality to meet customer requirements and business objectives. Monitor and analyze product results to prioritize improvement actions and solve problems applying root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventative actions. Support development of high-quality products that exceed our company and customer expectations.
Collaborate with Operations to analyze and investigate trends in product complaint data, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions and process improvements. Escalate to and collaborate with R&D as needed.
Co-lead or lead investigations of customer complaints and internal product failures.
Drive the implementation of effective and appropriate CAPAs.
Assist Operations in troubleshooting process issues and facilitate inter-department team workshops in the resolution of process issues and quality problems.
Create, maintain and publish daily, weekly and monthly product quality metrics.
Create, maintain and publish as needed reports for leadership tracking quality issues, to include root cause and corrective action.
Conduct statistical analysis of manufacturing data and create reports for senior management based on product quality metrics.
Participate in New Product Development programs to establish quality & compliance requirements, perform risk assessment, and complete required quality program deliverables.
Review engineering requirements and create inspection plans for incoming materials.
Train team members to quality standards.
Bachelor’s degree in science discipline or related field
3-5 years of experience working in a Quality role
Ability to organize, analyze and summarize data
High attention to detail
Excellent IT skills in MS Office
Superior communication and facilitation skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a cross-functional team
Strong working knowledge of quality related tools, such as structured problem solving, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), DEO (Design of Experiments) and Six Sigma/Lean
Perform independently without continual direction and exercise latitude in determining technical objectives and solutions to complex problems
Familiarity with reading and evaluating CAD drawings
ASQ certification preferred
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment up to 8 hours a day with additional overtime as required.
Must have the ability to stand and move about including reaching, bending, stooping, grasping.
Must have the ability to use hand tools and equipment including forceful gripping, grasping, pushing, pulling and repetitive motion.
Must have the ability to frequently lift and manipulate up to 40 pounds unassisted.
