The Public Service Sector consulting practice is a trusted advisor to federal, state and local governments, partnering to meet challenges and responding quickly to citizen demands, business needs, new economic conditions, and changing legislative priorities and policies.

This position is for a Senior AIX System Administrator to support high availability production systems in a Federal security compliant data center. You will assist in technical engineering programs to implement and maintain operations support tools. You will work closely with network, application, and middleware teams to support AIX based product installations, customizations, and deployments. You will be responsible for all aspects of AIX and VIOS support including software updates and upgrades, backup and recovery, performance management and capacity planning for the AIX environment.

While there is minimal/no travel with this position, candidates must be able and willing to travel. Only US Citizens with an active security clearance, or the ability to get one, can be considered for this position.

Work will be performed out of the Boulder, Colorado, or RTP, NC, IBM locations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Installing, Configuring, and Managing AIX6/7 and RHEL6/7 Power Servers, in a Enterprise Environment - 5 years

  • Installing, Configuring, and Managing VIOS on Power Servers, in a Enterprise Environment - 5 years

  • HMC Setup and Management - 5 years

  • NIM Server Setup and Management - 5 years

  • LPAR, DLPAR, and PowerVM Setup and Support - 5 years

  • NPIV, IVE, VLAN, Link Aggregator Setup and Support - 5 years

  • AIX system monitoring which includes reviewing system and application logs to troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware related problems - 5 years

  • Setup and troubleshoot TCPIP, DNS, NFS, and NTP - 5 years

  • Backup and Restore Tools on AIX (Ie. Spectrum Protect/TSM) - 5 years

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal secret level security clearance.

  • Off-shift work that includes evenings, weekends, and on-call support.

  • Incident and Task Ticketing Queue - 5 years

  • Ability to Update Tickets with appropriate technical detail

  • Mentoring Junior Level UNIX System Administrators

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • IBM General Parallel File System Setup and Support - 2 years

  • Current Secret Level Security Clearance or higher

  • Experience in development of implementation guides based on NIST 800-53 moderate and high impact baselines and also should have Federal customer experience - 2 years

  • Display excellent teamwork skills, written and oral communication skills, and formal documentation skills - 2 years

  • Experience With Project Management or management of technical projects - 2 years

  • Experience with Harden AIX Operating Systems to NIST Compliance (Ie. DISA STIG) - 2 years

  • Experience with Puppet Enterprise and Puppet Module - 2 years

  • Experience withwWeb servers, databases, clustering, networks, cabling, new installations and migrations, and security scanning - 2 years

  • Experience with Solarwinds - 2 years

  • CompTia Security+ certification

  • IBM Certified System Adminstrator – AIX6 or AIX7
